Breaking Barriers: Choosing Unconventional Dreams in a World of Expectations
“How many of you have dreamed about having a non-traditional career path? And how many of you stayed loyal to it till the end? Our society has a stigma around pursuing a non-traditional career, people have set the standards according to them. And what if our close ones are the ones giving us the reality check by presenting the list of responsibilities they have related to us that need to be fulfilled in time and asking us to get our hands on our responsibilities too? Yet, what becomes of the dreams? What about the magic in the eyes of someone envisioning their success and passionately sharing it with their loved ones? It takes courage to break this stigma. It takes courage to stay loyal to your dreams while fulfilling the responsibilities on hand, side by side. It takes courage to go after it against all odds still holding the hands of close ones.
Magic never happens by doing the same things, living the same life and getting lost in creating the same life for the coming generations that we have always known. The real magic is beyond this barrier. It’s beyond the stigma created by this society. To reach excellence we must pursue our interests. There’s nothing bad about choosing the traditional career if you have an interest in it, but, without interest, choosing that path would lead to disaster, would lead to a war between your mind and heart, you would be sacrificing your peace of mind for the rest of your life.
Breaking this barrier won’t be easy though, especially if it involves our close ones. You’ve to face and address the inner conflict between following your passion and meeting familial expectations. You may have to face societal criticism by going against their set standards. But, confronting this challenge is far better than enduring an inner conflict forever. You’ve to stay resilient in the face of doubt. There will be times when you’ll doubt yourself, and you’ll feel drawn back to pursuing the traditional path because of societal pressure, but you’ve to build your confidence through small wins. You’ve to work on yourself; you’ve to trust yourself and the universe, which has gifted you the strength to pursue your purpose and passion. While not everyone shares these beliefs, you’ll find like-minded individuals who will support you. You just need to identify them and surround yourself with them. You can connect with them at networking events as well as through online communities. You need to support and encourage each other, bringing your shared visions to the world.
Overcoming this battle is a step towards self-improvement. It’s a step towards the life that you’ve always dreamed of. It’s a step towards your higher self. Chase your dreams unapologetically. Your dreams are valid, no matter how unconventional they may seem. The world needs the magic only you can create..♡”
